The AV Myer Indigenous Award for Exceptional Talent


The A V Myer Award for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders aims to select and support emerging talent as they pursue their careers in the screen arts and broadcast sector. One or two awards are offered at the end of each year for Indigenous students completing AFTRS courses who demonstrate exceptional talent. Each award is up to a maximum of $20,000.

 

ELIGIBILITY:

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students who attend an AFTRS award or short course in 2012.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA:


Applicants for this award must provide the following:

1. Your name and address and the course you attended (within the period of 1/November/
2011-28/October/2012)

2. Your creative portfolio (example of creative work eg. Writing, film, video etc. If you want to submit moving image please do so in either Quicktime, MOV or AVI formats)

3. A statement outlining your career ambitions, and why you warrant consideration as an
applicant for this Award. (1 page maximum)

4. A statement outlining how you envisage using the A V Myer Award should your
application prove successful. (1 page maximum)

5.  A resume up to five minutes duration of the applicant's visual material can be provided in either Quicktime, MOV or AVI formats.

 

JUDGING PROCESS AND TIMELINE:

Applications need to be submitted by midnight, Sunday October 28 2012 to:

A short list will be drawn up by AFTRS staff and submitted to a panel for consideration. The panel's selection will be final, and no correspondence will be entered into. The panel reserves the right to make no award if they deem there are no suitable applications.


The A V Myer Indigenous Award will be presented at the AFTRS graduation ceremony on Friday 7 December 2012.
