The functions that are laid out in the Australian Film, Television
and Radio School
Act 1973 provide the framework for AFTRS
Corporate Plan 2011-2014 to develop future talent for the
screen and broadcasting industries. It achieves this by focusing on
strategies in the following key areas:
- The delivery of its award course program to support the creative and professional development needs of students across the life of their career
- Its research activity that contributes to industry through its highly specialised knowledge and experience as a result of teaching creative practice in screen arts and broadcasting
- The establishment of an Open Programme offering vocationally focused education to the industry and the public
- Its unique relationship with industry that provides students with access to the work and thinking of the most creative current practitioners
- The efficient management of its financial, human and technological resources
