History - A quick snapshot
Created in 1972 by the Australian Government as a key strategy
in the revival of the Australian film industry, AFTRS is the only
institution of its kind in the nation - with professional, industry
standard, film, television, radio and production facilities all
under one roof and a curriculum that spans all of the specialist
areas that comprise this exciting and dynamic sector.
With the goal of being the heart of the screen arts and broadcast
industry AFTRS is located in a new, state-of-the-art building
situated amidst production houses, studios, (adjacent to Fox
Studios) and close to galleries studios and other leading creative
institutions and Colleges.
