AFI Feature Film award contenders

 

Late last week the AFI announced the field of feature films in competition for the 2010 Samsung Mobile AFI Awards and at last count 16 of the 19 features include work by AFTRS graduates and here they are:

 

- Accidents Happen the debut feature by AFTRS graduate Andrew Lancaster (Sound, 1994) with production design by Elizabeth Mary Moore (Design, 1997) original music by Antony Partos (Sound, 1991) and editing by Roland Gallois (Editing, 1995).

- Beneath Hill 60, art direction by Sam Hobbs (Design, 2002), assistant art director Ross Perkin (Design, 2004), sound design by Liam Egan (Sound 1987), dialogue editor Tony Murtagh (Sound, 1988), sound effects editor Alicia Slusarski (Sound, 1992), assistant sound effects editor Jennifer Sochakyj (Sound, 2008).

- The Boys Are Back, production design by Melinda Doring (Design, 1998)

- Bran Nue Dae, directed and co-written by Rachel Perkins (Producing, 1996), cinematography by Andrew Lesnie (Cinematography, 1979), production design by Felicity Abbott (Design, 1999), art direction by Sophie Nash (Design, 2003).

- Bright Star, directed by Jane Campion (Directing, 1984)

- Daybreakers, dialogue editor Derryn Pasquill (Sound, 2004), dialogue editor Jenny T. Ward (Editing, 1992), composer assistant Daniel Baker (Screen Composition, 2007) and music preparation by Jessica Wells (Screen Composition, 2005).

- Lou written and directed by Belinda Chayko (Scriptwriting, 1990), produced by Tony Ayres (Scriptwriting, 1990, cinematography by Hugh Miller (Cinematography, 2003), production design by Pete Baxter (Design, 1996, sound editing by Liam Egan (Sound, 1987), camera operator Murray Lui (Cinematography, 2000) and Ceinwen Berry (Editing, 2007) as assistant editor.

- The Loved Ones, written and directed by Sean Byrne (Directing, 2001), produced by Mark Lazarus (Producing, 1994), cinematography by Simon Chapman (Cinematography, 2002), editing by Andy Canny (Editing, 2001), sound assistant Auryn Lacy (Sound, 2008), and additional lighting by James Brown (Cinematography, 2009).

- Matching Jack, written by Lynne Renew (Scriptwriting, 1994)

- Mother Fish, cinematography by Peter Holland (Cinematography, 2003) and editing by Alison Croft (Editing, 1998).

- Subdivision, directed by Sue Brooks (Directing, 1985)

- Tomorrow When The War Began, assistant art director Kristen Anderson (Design, 2000), assistant sound editor Cameron Grant (Sound, 2008), sound re-recording mixer Robert Sullivan (Sound, 1987)
- The Tree, with cinematography by Nigel Bluck (Cinematography, 1996), costume design by Joanna Park (Design, 1994)

- The Tumbler, with original music by Benjamin Speed (Screen Composition, 2008)

- The Waiting City written, directed and produced by Claire McCarthy (Directing, 2001) with cinematography by Denson Baker (Cinematography, 2001), original music by Michael Yezerski (Screen Composition, 2001), production design by Pete Baxter (Production Design, 1996) and costume design by Justine Seymour (Costume Design, 2001).
