French Public Broadcaster Arte France has purchased the acclaimed documentary series First Australians from SBS Television.
Created by AFTRS graduate Rachel Perkins (Producing, 1996) and Darren Dale of Blackfella Films, First Australians is a seven-part series that tells the history of Australia through the eyes of its original inhabitants.
Fellow AFTRS graduate Beck Cole (Documentary, 2002) was also on board as director of several episodes.
The landmark series took six years to make and has enjoyed critical success, picking up a range of awards including a Logie for Most Outstanding Documentary, an ADG Award for Best Direction in a Documentary Series, an AWGIE Award and an AFI Award for Best Documentary Series.
First Australians is currently available on DVD.
